Defeat Debt
Credit Advisors Foundation
Volume 45, Issue 6
Dear Client,
Your monthly statement is enclosed. Please verify your payment is properly credited! Compare your billing statements to your Credit Advisors statement. Make sure your creditors have given you credit for the payments we sent to them. Contact us, if you notice any differences.

Remember – don’t open any new revolving credit accounts while on your debt management plan. This will only increase the time it will take you to become debt free! If you incur new debt, some of your creditors may suspend any counseling benefits they have granted you.

Plugging Holes

WAYS TO PLUG HOLES IN YOUR BUDGET

Benjamin Franklin once said, “Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a great ship.”

Enclosed are some ways to plug holes in your budget and enrich your pocketbook. Most are pretty painless and don’t require any real sacrifice.

  1. If you have a computer, cut your phone bill by e-mailing those friends and family members that are far away.
  2. Unplug that extra refrigerator in the garage or basement.A typical refrigerator burns up to $130.00 worth of electricity a year.
  3. Turn down the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120 degrees. You can save as much as $26 per year if you heat water with gas and $57 per year if your heater is electric.
  4. Install high efficiency showerheads and faucets. This can save the typical household $33 per year in water bills and as much as $86 more in energy costs.
  5. Sign up for overdraft protection on your checking account. Just one bounced check can cost you as much as $75.00
  6. Dodge unnecessary bank charges. (ie: ATM and minimum balance charges)
  7. Don’t order checks through your bank. Check with Current, Designer Checks, and ads for other printers that can be found in the Sunday paper)
  8. Ask your home or auto insurer if you could get a break on cost if you insured both policies from the same provider.
  9. Don’t buy higher octane fuel than your car needs.
  10. Shop for Birthday and Christmas gifts year round during the clearance sales.
  11. Avoid impulse buys. Make a shopping list and stick to it.
  12. Cancel subscriptions to magazines you don’t read.
  13. Trim the cable bill by ridding yourself of premium packages.
  14. See a movie at the $1.00 theatre or go to the twilight show.

IMPORTANT!!

BEWARE - MISSING A PAYMENT ON YOUR COUNSELING PLAN CAN RESULT IN DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES.

MANY CREDITORS HAVE BEGUN IMPOSING STRICTER PAYMENT POLICIES IN HONORING SPECIAL BENEFITS TO CREDIT COUNSELING CUSTOMERS. FOR EXAMPLE, SOME CREDITORS REQUIRE THE AGREED UPON MONTHLY PAYMENT BE MADE TO THEM WITHOUT FAIL ONCE THEY HAVE ACCEPTED A CREDIT COUNSELING PLAN.IN SOME CASES, CREDITORS ARE SUSPENDING COUNSELING BENEFITS PERMANENTLY.

IN THE EVENT YOU DON’T MAKE YOUR SCHEDULED PAYMENT TO US, THESE CREDITORS MAY REVOKE ANY BENEFITS THAT WERE GRANTED TO YOU.THIS MEANS THE CREDITOR WILL GO BACK TO CHARGING YOUR ACCOUNT AT THE HIGHER INTEREST RATE.LATE FEES AND OVER LIMIT CHARGES WILL ACCRUE AGAIN AND THEY MAY REPORT NEGATIVELY AGAINST YOU TO THE CREDIT BUREAU.

FYI
